Relationships can be complicated and hard to understand for any of us, no matter how old we are, so is it any wonder that so many teenagers have problems with relationships and have trouble understanding them. Ask most men and they'll all agree that understanding women is hard, this has always been an old joke, but men are just as hard for women to understand too.

Men don't understand why women get upset when the man forgets anniversaries; women don't understand how men can forget what should be such an important date. Things like this have happened in the past and they will continue long into the future, its life, so how do we expect teenagers to understand any of this. Some of the most common questions relating to problems with relationships are:

* Why do I feel so awkward around girls/boys?

* Why doesn't the opposite sex like me?

* How do I approach a girl/boy I like, what do I say to them?

* Why are all the other girls thinner/prettier than me?

* Why do boys go for some girls and not others?

* Why do I find it so hard to talk with the opposite sex?

* Why does my stomach go all funny when I'm around a girl/boy that I like?

* What should I talk about on our date?

* Should I kiss him/her?

There are a million and one other similar questions that go through the minds of teenagers, this can be a very unsettling and confusing time for most teenagers. Once the opposite sex comes into the picture a completely new set of problems appear on the horizon to blend in with those the teenager is already going through.

Unfortunately the awkwardness that comes with the uncertainty is just a part of growing up and sometimes even adults can still feel those same feelings no matter how old we are, the only difference being that we have learnt to deal with them. No one will ever truly understand the opposite sex that's life but there are several things to remember when you are going through this difficult period.

You are not alone, almost all your friends will be going through the same feelings as you are doing though they might not look like it on the outside.

Girls just as much as boys have problems with relationships, the only difference being is the feelings and thoughts are sometimes different.

If you are rejected don't take it to heart, just because it happened once doesn't mean it will happen again, remember its them that's losing out not you.

The person you're trying to pluck up courage to talk to is probably just as nervous as you are feeling don't try to be someone your not, always just be yourself. If you have an older brother or sister get advice from them.
